Cactus League Spring Training is here!

It’s here! Baseball players have arrived at their respective training facilities across the valley. I hear balls hitting the mitts and cracks of the bats in the fresh Arizona air. Amazingly enough, I see snow in the distance in the high elevations of the Four Peaks and saw snow in the peaks of McDowell Mountains yesterday. Still, our weather is good enough for some good old fashion baseball!

Many teams from far east as Ohio, both teams (Cleveland & Cincinnati) from the Buckeye State are here training in Goodyear. The 2012 World Champions are ready to put their titles on the line as they train in Old Town Scottsdale. Good luck to the San Francisco Giants for their quest of a repeat, and a third title in four years. Obviously, Arizona’s home team, the Diamondbacks have a tough task at hand competing against their division rivals, including the Giants this year. They once again will train at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick with their divisional foe, the Colorado Rockies. While you’re at it, watch Chicago Cubs baseball as this will be the final year at Hohokam Park in Mesa. A new Wrigleyville West awaits for them in 2014, and will remain in Mesa.

I anticipate this year to be full of many surprises! We saw that in the Oakland Athletics last season. They will train at Phoenix Municipal Stadium near the Phoenix Zoo, just north of the 202 near Sky Harbor Airport. We don’t know what 2013 is going to be like as this game is filled with unpredictable moments, and that’s why the game of baseball game is so great. That said, let the Cactus League exhibition games begin!
